Based in Virginia Beach, I have the opportunity to frequently travel around this beautiful state. Virginia offers an array of scenery to the nature and landscape photographer. From the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains, to the stunning beaches of Back Bay and False Cape in Virginia Beach. View my gallery of stunning scenes from these various locations. Stunning, dramatic sunset at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia Beach Virginia. Back Bay is an incredible natural area with endless golden shores, sand dunes, live oak trees, blackberries, birds, and so much more. It is one of my favorite locations for sunrises & sunsets.
One of the most photographed locations on the Blue Ridge Parkway with historically powerful displays of the Aurora.

During an historic Geomagnetic Storm, the Northern lights were visible in Virginia along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This photo captures the incredible moment vibrant colors light up the famous Raven’s Roost overlook in the Blue Ridge Parkway that overlooks Waynesboro, VA. While Raven’s Roost overlook photos are a dime a dozen, I believe this frame is truly unique, and stands alone in its category.

Stunning wide-angle capture of the vibrant and awe-inspiring northern lights at Raven’s Roost Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. May 11th, 2024. 2:39 am.
February 2025 produced a record breaking snowstorm in Virginia Beach. 12”+ Was reported from Knotts Island to central Virginia Beach. This created some stunning, and rare scenes, like this photo of windswept snowdrifts at the Oceanfront.
